Governor Tim Walz and state Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm this afternoon announce recommended strategies for lessening the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Minnesota communities. Among the options could be cancelling events involving large numbers of people. A number of organizations, particularly in sports, have already done that.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Minnesota House have cancelled all committee hearings and other meetings until Monday’s 11am floor session. A statement issued late yesterday, the four top leaders of the House and Senate say they will continue talking through the weekend about “the agenda for the session and how to conduct legislative proceedings in light of COVID-19.” They said no further decisions have been made at this time about access to the State Capitol or legislative activity.
