Walz orders more bar, restaurant restrictions as COVID cases continue increasing in MN

November 11, 2020 By Bill Werner

No in-person service after 10 p-m at bars and restaurants in Minnesota beginning Friday — part of Governor Tim Walz’s new emergency order as COVID cases spike in the state. The governor says greatest spread of COVID is among 18- to 35-year-olds, many showing no symptoms. “You don’t see it on ’em. They are not sick,” Walz says. “They are legitimately asymptomatic and they believe, and in many cases they’re doing almost everything right, but they’re infected and they are contagious.”

7th District Congresswoman-elect Michelle Fischbach says after months of mandates forced many restaurants and bars to close, this new move by the governor “is guaranteed to deal an additional blow to this important industry.” Fischbach says western Minnesota establishments are at additional disadvantage because people can cross the border to the Dakotas.
