Governor Tim Walz is in Claremont this afternoon (2pm) for the official groundbreaking on the Highway 14 upgrade between Owatonna and Dodge Center. When that 12-and-a-half mile stretch is completed in 2022, Highway 14 will be four lanes from Mankato to Rochester. It’s a key corridor and finishing the upgrade has been on lawmakers’ radar screen for a number of years. Cost to upgrade the final stretch is nearly 108 million dollars. Funding was a bipartisan agreement and the second bill Governor Walz signed into law after taking office.
