Governor Tim Walz is postponing his State of the State address — originally set for tomorrow night (Mon) — to a date yet-to-be-determined. The decision comes as the COVID pandemic tightens its grip on Minnesota. Hamline University analyst David Schultz says a few weeks ago, conversations at the Capitol were about a bonding bill, Republicans’ call for tax cuts, and Democrats’ push for early childhood programs. “But now it’s about, what? It’s about responding to the coronavirus and whether we have sufficient resources, whether we have sufficient gear for testing. It’s like after 9-11. It changed everything,” Schultz says.
Expect more executive orders tomorrow from the governor.
