No decision yet from Governor Tim Walz whether he’ll pursue further legal action on Enbridge, after the state Public Utilities Commission (Tues) refused his administration’s request to reconsider its earlier approval of the Line 3 pipeline through northern Minnesota. “I want to be very clear that on all issues — whether it be shrimp farming in southern Minnesota, whether it be PolyMet,. whether it be Enbridge Line 3 — we follow the science, we follow the law, we follow the process.”
Walz adds, “We have a responsibility to protect the environment, to protect the people of Minnesota, and protect the process that allows people to do economic activities as long as we follow that. So give us a little bit of time [to] go back [and] take a look at what this means.”
Opponents of Line 3 have filed a separate lawsuit but the state Court of Appeals has not yet ruled following last week’s oral arguments. Backers of Line 3 says it’s had rigorous environmental review and will bring thousands of badly-needed jobs to northern Minnesota.
