Democrat Tim Walz says if elected governor he’ll expand funding for broadband Internet and affordable housing, increase state aid to cities, and make “serious investments” in roads, bridges and transit. Walz says Governor Mark Dayton was “probably right” when he proposed a 10-cent-per-gallon increase in the gasoline tax. “I think Governor Dayton came to that conclusion based on the best data that’s out there, and I think that is probably the starting point where we would be,” he says.
Former Governor Tim Pawlenty, who’s running for a third term, warns Democrats are teeing-up massive tax increases on hard-working Minnesotans — and it’s telling when they say a big tax hike is only a “starting point.”
