Governor Tim Walz says his heart is with the families, friends and communities of two more Minnesotans who died from vaping-related injuries in September. Prompted by a student survey showing a jump in teen vaping, Walz earlier this month called for a statewide ban on flavored tobacco products — including menthol — and said about the tobacco industry, “Shame on them for doing this…. This is clearly meant to addict our children. It’s surely meant to make a buck.”
Walz also supports increasing the tobacco buying age to 21 in Minnesota. He says another option under consideration is prohibiting Internet sale of tobacco products in Minnesota.
