Governor Tim Walz says he will soon name a new head of the state’s I-T department (MN-IT) which has been dogged by ongoing problems with MN-LARS and before that, MNSure. Republican Representative Jim Nash from Waconia says for a number of years I-T commissioners have been “sort of the mouthpiece of the administration, and I think that we need somebody right now who will push back on the administration on issues that may need to be pushed back on.”
Nash says the governor asked him to consider taking the I-T commissioner job. Nash says he “respectfully declined” because “I enjoy being a legislator very much” and voters in western Carver County asked him to be their representative again.
