Governor Tim Walz says it’s a step in the right direction even though the U-S Supreme Court did not definitely rule that there can’t be a citizenship question on the U-S Census. The high court said the Trump administration’s current justification for adding the question was insufficient. The governor says the fight will continue because he’s “dedicated to ensuring that every Minnesotan is counted and respected.” President Donald Trump tweeted that he’s asked lawyers if the census can be delayed “no matter how long” until the Supreme Court is given more information to make a “final and decisive decision.” Federal law requires the census begin April 1st, 2020.
