Governor Tim Walz, announcing new COVID restrictions, warned that hospitals are on the verge of dangerous capacity shortages as the pandemic spikes to its highest level yet in Minnesota. “This is not a situation where we’re panicked,” he says. “It is not a situation where people are not going to get care, but it is a situation that, it will change dramatically.” Walz says Minnesotans can start to address the situation by their behavior. His order prohibits in-person service at bars and restaurants after 10 p-m beginning Friday, plus other restrictions.
Attendance limits will phase-in for receptions at weddings, funerals and similar events. And officials are asking people to limit private gatherings to 10 people, from no more than three households.
