The National Transportation Safety Board says the pilot of a twin-engine plane that crashed near the Moorhead airport last week could not see the runway. The NTSB’s preliminary report says the pilot initiated what’s called a “missed approach” procedure and eventually crashed into a field about a half-mile from the end of the runway. The report says visibility was a half-mile due to dense fog and the clouds were just 300 feet above the ground.The pilot and one passenger received minor injuries, five other passengers were not hurt. The crash happened last Wednesday just before 6 pm. The flight originated in Baudette, Minn. The airplane is operated by Flight Development, LLC of Moorhead.
