Website tells story of Leif Erickson Viking Ship

June 11, 2019 By Tasha Redel

The web designer Faster Solutions in Duluth has introduced a new Leif Erikson Viking Ship website.  The site covers the story of the ship, the restoration process, its importance to the community and an online donation portal. The ship, built in Norway, sailed across the Atlantic in 1926 and into Duluth in June of 1927. The ship was purchased by Bert Enger of Duluth and went on display at Leif Erikson Park where it remained until falling into disrepair in 1980. Fundraising has been underway to get the ship repaired and a suitable structure to house the ship is constructed. Meanwhile, the ship is out of the public view in a warehouse. Plans are to put the ship on display during this summer’s Festival of Sail. Donations can be made and more information can be found at the website leiferiksonvikingship.com
