A man found dead inside a Hibbing house was murdered. WDIO-TV reports 60-year-old Brian Nelson was stabbed and discovered in a home behind The Bottle Shop Liquor store Monday. Nelson is a long-time Hibbing resident and business owner. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
Minnesota’s Attorney General is suing Louisiana-based CenturyLink for overbilling customers for internet and cable service. A-G Lori Swanson announced the lawsuit today. The complaint alleges that consumers were quoted one price from the company, but charged another. And, the company is accused of refusing to honor prices quoted to customers, even after the customers have discovered the discrepancies. CenturyLink has not commented on the suit.
A 26-year-old man faces charges after allegedly robbing a woman Monday afternoon in Garrison. The female victim reported she’d been sitting at a picnic table near a grocery store when the suspect approached her asking for money. She said she didn’t have any and the man left, only to return a short time later. The woman says the man slapped her on the back and took her wallet from her purse, which was on the table next to her.
Around nine-thousand Xcel Energy customers remain without power after severe storms hit the north and east metro early this morning. Xcel says it has more than 350 employees working to return power to all customers by 8 pm this evening–although many customers are expected to have power before then.

Dan Hendrickson with the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota encourages homeowners to do their research before hiring a contractor. Also keep in mind contractors are prohibited from advertising or promising to pay or rebate all or part of any insurance deductibles.
