The search continues for a person with a gun near the campus of St. Catherine University in St. Paul. An unarmed campus security guard was injured last night after he was shot while confronting someone he saw in the woods. The guard’s injuries are reportedly not life threatening. The campus remains on lockdown.
The boyfriend of Savanna Greywind and the father of her child, Haisley Jo, has been granted full custody by a judge. Aston Matheny says it was emotional and he is excited about the court’s decision. 22-year-old Greywind was eight months pregnant when she disappeared from her north Fargo apartment last month. Haisley Jo was found by police in a neighbor’s upstairs apartment. DNA testing confirmed it was Greywind’s and Matheny’s child. The two neighbors are charged with Greywind’s kidnapping and disappearance.
Senator Al Franken says he is onboard with a health plan being introduced by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders today. The single-payer health care plan would require that the government pay most all medical bills, instead of individuals and businesses. Despite the support from Franken and other big-name Democrats, the bill will have an uphill battle in the Republican-controlled Senate.
An Otsego man may have broken a world record with a piece of produce. Chris Qualley’s carrot weighs 22-pounds-four-ounces. The current record is 20-pounds. That carrot was grown in the UK three years ago. Qualley says his carrot must be verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. He already holds the state record for the heaviest carrot.
The Minnesota Lynx hammered the Washington Mystics in Game One of their W-N-B-A semifinal series at Williams Arena last night, 101-81. Seimone Augustus scored 24 points in the opener of the best-of-five set. The Lynx host Game Two tomorrow at The Barn.
