>>The two-year old girl shot on the North End of St. Paul Sunday remains in critical condition. Chastity Vang was one of three people shot during the incident. No arrests have been made. Police investigators have said the shooting was not random.
>> A pilot was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo Tuesday night after his plane crashed south of Mahnomen. Sheriff Doug Krier says the plane went down in a field near the Mahnomen airport around 8 p.m. Two Mn-DOT employees traveling on Highway 59 saw the plane crash and pulled the pilot from the wreck. The man’s name and condition have not been released. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
>> It is day-two of the latest hearing for death row inmate Alfonso Rodriguez Junior, who was convicted in the 2003 kidnapping and murder of Dru Sjodin. A forensic scientist took the stand for the defense on Tuesday stating there was a lack of evidence that Rodriguez raped Sjodin. Proceedings continue today.
>> A Minnetonka man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and pointing a gun at another man outside a Stearns County bar Saturday night. According to the criminal complaint 39-year-old Corey Heinen was groping a woman without consent, while inside the Lion’s Den bar. The woman asked someone for help, Heinen then grabbed a beer bottle and hit the man in the head, before slapping the woman in the face. A second man removed Heinen from the bar. Once outside Heinen grabbed a gun and pointed it at the man’s face. The man was able to disarm Heinen, who then left the bar. Police later found him at his parents house where he was arrested.
>>Eight families on the Iron Range have been displaced due to smoke damage from an early morning dryer fire in Biwabik. Crews were called to the apartment just before five Tuesday morning. Firefighters say all of the residents were able to safely escape, but 23 people were temporarily displaced, including eight children. The fire was contained to the dryer. The Red Cross is assisting displaced residents.
>>A Hennepin County man was convicted Tuesday on several counts of wire fraud and money laundering — after promising to use borrowed money to build an indoor RV park for oil workers in North Dakota. Reports say 51-year old Ronald Johnson of Corcoran used the two-point-one-million dollars instead to make a number of large purchases including buying an island in the city of Maple Lake.
>> Allegiant Air has announced it is adding two non-stop flights from St. Cloud to the Fort Myers area of Florida, starting in November. The no-frills carrier based near Las Vegas currently offers seasonal flights from Minnesota to Mesa, Arizona. It suspended its flights from Minnesota to Orlando back in 2014.
