The Star Tribune reports an out-of-court settlement has been reached between Wells Fargo and the family of rape victim that alleged the company and one of its mortgage bankers in Mankato mistakenly revealed what was supposed to be their secret location while the defendant was out on bail. The plaintiffs say after applying for a mortgage on a new home, mail bearing the mother’s name started showing up from Wells Fargo and other senders — indicating the banking giant had sold the information to other vendors. The mother and daughter enrolled in the Safe at Home program after the alleged perpetrator threatened to kill them. Wells Fargo officials have not commented on the settlement.
