(Dallas, TX) — Chris Stewart netted the game-winner in the shootout to lift the Wild past the Stars 3-2 in Dallas on Tuesday night. Jason Pominville and Mikko Koivu also lit the lamp for Minnesota in the shootout and had a goal apiece in regulation. The Wild have won seven of 10 and have the most points in the Western Conference with 67. They also have points in 22 of the last 25 games dating back to December 2nd putting together a 20-3-2 record over that span. Devan Dubnyk made 35 saves in the winning effort. Tyler Seguin and Patrick Eaves found the back of the net in defeat. Jason Spezza had two assists. The Stars have lost nine of 12. The Wild lead the season series against the Stars at 3-0-1 meaning they’ve taken seven of a possible eight points against the team that bounced them from the playoffs last spring.
With the win the Wild extend their road point streak to 13 games which sets a franchise record. Minnesota leads Chicago by two points for the top spot in both the Central Division and Western Conference and still have three games in hand.
Up next the Wild host the St. Louis Blues for the final game before the All Star Break. The Wild and Blues are 1-1-1 in the season series. The Wild win came back in December as it goes down as win number four in the twelve game win streak. Matt Dumba, Nino Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund were the goal scorers in a 3-1 victory while Devan Dubnyk made 22 saves.
After Thursday, the Wild and the rest of the league will break for the NHL All Star Game this weekend in Los Angeles. Devan Dubnyk and Ryan Suter will represent the Minnesota Wild in the All Star festivities while Bruce Boudreau will coach the Central Division team. The skills competition is Saturday night while the All Star game is Sunday. The Wild resume their schedule next Tuesday in Edmonton.
