(St. Paul, MN) — Vernon Fiddler scored twice and Tyler Seguin (SAY-gin) added his 19th goal of the year as the Dalass Stars doubled up the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center last night, 6-3. Jordie Benn, Antoine Roussel (roo-SELL) and Cody Eakin also scored for Dallas, which has won five of seven. Antti Niemi made 30 saves to get the win in relief of Kari Lehtonen, who was pulled after giving up two goals in the first 8:16. Jared Spurgeon, Charlie Coyle and Nino Niederreiter (NEE-der-RITE-er) scored for the Wild, who have lost two in-a-row following a three-game winning streak. Devan Dubnyk (DOOB-nik) allowed four goals on 32 shots in defeat. Meanwhile, the Wild are locking up defenseman Spurgeon. The team signed Spurgeon to a four-year, 20.75-million-dollar contract extension yesterday that will begin next season. The 26-year-old has five goals and 12 assists in 32 games this season. The Wild also called up defenseman Mike Reilly from A-H-L Iowa.
