(St. Paul, MN) — On day one of Wild development camp it was an established vet that made a splash for the Wild on Tuesday rather than one of the up and coming prospects. Wild general manager Bill Guerin shipped goaltender Cam Talbot to the Senators in exchange for goaltender Filip Gustavsson in a straight goalie swap. Gustavsson, 24, comes to Minnesota after going 5-12-1 last season with the Sens. The 6-foot-3, 193 pound native of Sweden also played 20 games in the A-H-L last season in Belleville. He was originally drafted by the Penguins 55th overall in 2016. He’ll replace Talbot who expressed dissatisfaction with his situation in the post season in particular followed by his agent expressing unhappiness in the decision to re-sign Marc Andre Fleury. Talbot went 51-20-9 as a member of the Wild over two seasons.

Meanwhile, the Wild opened their annual development camp at TRIA Rink in St. Paul yesterday featuring the brightest stars across the organization. Amongst those that the Wild brass will be keeping their eye on include forward Marco Rossi, goaltender Jesper Wallstedt and all off the 2022 N-H-L Draft picks the Wild selected last week in Montreal. While the camp continues today it concludes tomorrow night with a 3-on-3 tournament that’s open to the public starting at 6 P-M.
