(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota defenseman Jared Spurgeon’s go-ahead tally ignited a three-goal third period as the Wild beat the Chicago Blackhawks last night in St. Paul, 4-1. Erik Haula and Nino Niederreiter (NEE-no NEE-der-RITE-er) also lit the lamp in the third, while Jarret Stoll opened the scoring in the first for the Wild, who swept the five-game season series from the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks. Minnesota has won six straight overall to move five points ahead of Colorado for the final Wild Card spot in the West. Devan Dubnyk (DOOB-nik) made 18 saves in the victory. Marian Hossa (HOE-suh) scored the lone goal shorthanded for Chicago, which remains third in the Central Division with 95 points. The Wild host Ottawa tomorrow night.
