Many Minnesotans are wondering after this week’s events in Washington, will President Trump do something rash in the final days of his presidency? Carleton College Professor Steven Schier says although the president does have that power, “All the other officeholders in the executive branch have their own independent grants of authority and will be careful about those. You might note that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has spoken to the Joint Chiefs of Staff about any possible uses of military force by President Trump in the remaining 12 days in his presidency.”
Schier studied Trump’s career before the White House and says he has “a pattern of abandoning a project when it doesn’t seem to be leading to a successful conclusion.”
