Player Notes
• In 29:26 minutes of action off the bench, Bones Hyland led the way for the Wolves in Boston, finishing with a season-high-tying 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-7 from deep, three rebounds and three assists. Tonight marks Hyland’s fifth 20+ point game of the season (23rd career). Minnesota moves to 4-1 this season when he scores 20 or more points.
• Tonight marked Hyland’s first game leading the Timberwolves in scoring since he joined the team and his 14th game leading his team in scoring in his career
• In his fourth start of the season (168th career), Ayo Dosunmu ended tonight’s game with 17 points on an efficient 7-of-13 from field, eight rebounds and a game-high six assists. Tonight marked Dosunmu’s third straight 15+ point/5+ rebound/5+ assist game and fifth of the season (13th career). In his four games in the starting lineup, he is averaging 19.0 points on 50.0% shooting, including 47.4% from deep, 8.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
• Rudy Gobert was dominant down low tonight against the Celtics, finishing with a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with a game-high four blocks. All four of Gobert’s blocks came in the first quarter of tonight’s game, his most in any quarter as a Timberwolves player. He is one of 10 players to record at least four blocks in a single quarter this season.
• Gobert ended the first half of tonight’s game with 12 rebounds, four blocks and one steal, his third half with at least four blocks, 12 rebounds, and one steal in his career. That is the most halves with that stat line over the last 20 seasons.
Team Notes
• With tonight’s 102-92 win over the Celtics at TD Garden, tonight’s performance marks the first time the Timberwolves have won in Boston since a 99-97 victory on March 6, 2005. The Wolves starting lineup that night included Kevin Garnett, John Thomas, Latrell Sprewell, Trenton Hassell and Troy Hudson. Coming into today, that was the longest road losing streak against any single opponent in franchise history.
• Tonight additionally marks the first season sweep of the Celtics since the 1999-2000 season (2-0).
• Minnesota trailed by as many as 15 points in tonight’s contest (14-29 with 11:04 in the second quarter) and ended up winning the game by 10 points. The comeback marks the Wolves’ first win by double digits when trailing by 15 or more this season. The last such win came last season after trailing by 16 points against Detroit and going on to win 123-104 on March 30, 2025.
• The Timberwolves moved to 6-0 when holding their opponent under 100 points this season. It was their 12th time holding Boston under 100 points on the road in franchise history.
• The Timberwolves trailed entering the fourth quarter, 77-76. With tonight’s victory, Minnesota has 11 wins when trailing at the end of the third quarter this season, one of five teams with 10 or more such wins this season (Cleveland Cavaliers, L.A. Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers).
• Minnesota held the Celtics to 35.8% (34-of-95) from the field in tonight’s game, the 11th time this season holding its opponent to 40% or below from the field. The Timberwolves remain undefeated (11-0) this season when doing so. Minnesota has not allowed Boston to shoot above 50.0% from the field in any of their meetings since Joe Mazzulla took over as Celtics head coach in 2022-23. The Timberwolves are the only team that the Celtics have no such games against over that span.
