Player Notes
• Anthony Edwards led the way for the Timberwolves tonight with a team-high 34 points on 12-of-25 shooting, including five makes from deep, 10 rebounds and a team-high eight assists, marking his 23rd 30+ point game of the season (89th career) and his second 30+ point/10+ rebound game of the season (ninth career).
• Tonight also marks Edwards’ first career game with 30+ points/10+ rebounds/8+ assists, becoming just the fifth player in franchise history to record such a game and the first Wolves player to do so since Karl-Anthony Towns (31 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists; Jan. 30, 2022 vs, Utah).
• Julius Randle finished the night with 26 points on 11-of-22 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three, nine rebounds and seven assists, marking his 11th 25+ point game of the season (174th career) and his seventh 25+ point/5+ rebound/5+ assists game of the season (81st career). The Wolves are now 10-1 this season when Randle scores 25+ points.\
• Randle joins Edwards (3x) as the only Timberwolves players this season to score 25+ points on 50.0%+ shooting from the field with a minimum of 20 field goal attempts and 50.0%+ from three to go along with 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists and just the 17th player in franchise history to record such a stat line.
• In a career-high 44:59 minutes of action off the bench, Nickeil Alexander-Walker finished the night with a season-high 26 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 5-of-11 from three, seven rebounds, a team-high-tying and season-high eight assists and a team-high two blocks, marking his first 25+ point game of the season (11th career) and his first career 25+ point/5+ rebound/5+ assist game.
• Alexander-Walker is the first player in NBA history to come off the bench and record 25+ points on 50.0%+ shooting, including 5+ made threes, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 2+ blocks.
• Alexander-Walker finished the first half of tonight’s contest with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and two blocks, becoming the first Timberwolves player since the 1997-98 season to record 10+ points/5+ rebounds/5+ assists off the bench in a single half and just the fifth player to do so in the NBA this season. When adding his two first half blocks, Alexander-Walker is the first player in the NBA to come off the bench and record 10+ points/5+ rebounds/5+ assists/2+ blocks in a single half since Sacramento’s Harry Giles III did so on Nov. 25, 2018 (10 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks; second half).
• Rudy Gobert added 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and 12 rebounds, marking his 17th double-double of the season (282nd career), all of which have come on 50.0%+ shooting from the field (276th career).
• Seven of Gobert’s 12 rebounds came on the offensive glass tonight, with four of those offensive rebounds coming in the first half, marking the 13th game this season in which Gobert has pulled down four offensive rebounds in the first half of a game, the most such games in the NBA this season. Since joining the Timberwolves prior to the 2022-23 season, Gobert has recorded 7+ offensive boards in 20 games, the second most such games during that span.
Team Notes
• Playing in their first double-overtime game since March 17, 2023, the Timberwolves beat the Nuggets who had entered the night a perfect 5-0 in overtime games this season. The Wolves win marked their first double-overtime win since Nov. 27, 2021 at Philadelphia (121-120).
• With tonight’s win over the Nuggets, Minnesota sweeps the season series 4-0 and has now won six consecutive games against the Nuggets dating back to last year’s NBA Playoffs. This is the fourth time the Timberwolves have swept the season series between the two teams and the first time doing so since the 2002-03 season (4-0).
• Led by Alexander-Walker, Mike Conley and Edwards, who each had eight assists, the Timberwolves ended the night with 35 assists, marking the seventh time this season the Wolves have recorded 35+ assists and the 24th time doing so during the Chris Finch era. Minnesota moves to 20-4 when recording 35+ assists with Finch at the helm.
• Led by Alexander-Walker and Edwards, who each had five made threes, the Timberwolves ended the night 19-of-50 from three, marking the 39th game this season in which Minnesota has made 15+ threes, the fourth-most such games in the NBA this season.
• Minnesota ended the night with 60 points in the paint, marking the 11th game this season in which the Wolves scored 60+ paint points.
• The Timberwolves finished the night with 22 second chance points, marking the 17th time this season Minnesota has scored 20+ second chance points.
