The Boston Celtics will have the number-one pick in next month’s NBA Draft. The Celtics won Tuesday’s NBA Draft Lottery, which establishes the draft order for the top 14 selections. Boston had the best chance for the top pick thanks to the 2013 trade that sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets. The Los Angeles Lakers will pick second, followed by the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Phoenix Suns will pick fourth, followed by the Sacramento Kings, the Orlando Magic, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the New York Knicks, the Dallas Mavericks and the Kings again at number-10. The Charlotte Hornets will have the 11th pick, with the Detroit Pistons, Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat rounding out the top-14 lottery selections. The NBA Draft takes place June 22nd in Brooklyn, New York.
The Timberwolves had the best chances to pick sixth and the second-best chance to select seventh. They fell to seventh.
