The Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns has been unanimously voted the NBA’s Rookie of the Year.
The 20-year-old forward/center received all 130 first-place votes and 650 total points from a panel of U-S and Canadian sportswriters and broadcasters. Towns led all qualified rookies this season in scoring, with 18.3 points per game, and rebounding (15.5 rpg).
Towns says it’s an honor to be named Rookie of the Year and thanked his coaches and teammates for their support throughout the year. And looking ahead he says he intends to work hard on his craft to improve his game for next season and “help our team challenge for a playoff spot.”
