(Minneapolis, MN) — Four Minnesota players scored 20 or more points as the Timberwolves hammered the New Orleans Pelicans last night in Minneapolis, 144-109. Shabazz Muhammad and Karl-Anthony Towns each posted 28 points for the T’wolves. Andrew Wiggins scored 21, Gorgui Dieng (GOR-gee JENG) tallied 20, and Zach LaVine finished with 19 in the win. James Ennis put up 28 points for New Orleans, which ends the year one-game better than Minnesota at 30-and-52. The Wolves finished 29-and-53. Timberwolves are officially looking for a new head coach and a new president of basketball operations. According to a release by the team, “Sam Mitchell has been relieved of his interim head coaching duties, effective immediately.” Milt Newton is still the general manager, but the search for both positions will be run by the Korn Ferry firm. They’re looking at candidates outside of the organization. Both of the positions were held by Flip Saunders, who passed away before the season. Minnesota went 29-and-53 this season. Multiple media outlets report that Mitchell will not be a candidate for the permanent position, unless the initial search shows a lack of other candidates.
