November 27, 2019 By Bill Werner

A woman from Guatemala who was deported after a fatal school bus crash has illegally returned to Minnesota and was arrested last night by federal immigration officers. 35-year-old Olga Franco del Cid was convicted of multiple felony counts for running a stop sign in Cottonwood in 2008 and hitting a school bus, killing four students. She served eight years of a 12-and-a-half-year prison sentence and was deported back to Guatemala in 2016. Authorities arrested Franco Tuesday night at her residence in Inver Grove Heights after receiving a tip. Illegally re-entering the U-S after deportation is a felony that carries up to a 20-year federal prison sentence.
