The Minnesota D-N-R is working to get 15-hundred public water accesses ready for Saturday’s fishing opener. The late-season cold weather delayed ice-out on many lakes and rivers in the state. The D-N-R’s Nancy Stewart says the ice is now off lakes in the southern two-thirds of the state and docks are doing in rapidly. A number of northern Minnesota lakes are still ice covered. The late ice-out and cooler temps could result in a “good bite” that lasts into early summer. The 71st annual Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener is this weekend on Green Lake in Spicer.
