A working group of lawmakers and others, trying to find ways to reduce economic disparities for Minnesotans of color, meets a second time this afternoon at the State Capitol. The group continues doing prep work for the regular legislative session in March. Governor Mark Dayton was pushing for a special session to deal not only with that issue, but also to extend unemployment benefits for Iron Range miners, plus make Minnesota drivers licenses comply with federal REAL ID requirements. But the federal government told Minnesota it has until 2018, which Dayton said this week takes away one of the urgent reasons for a special session.
