(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Dayton wants legislative leaders to decide by this Friday whether to hold a special session. DFL Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk (bock) agrees a decision must be made soon and says “if it drags out beyond this week with a definite decision, I think every day it becomes less likely there’s going to be a special session. ” The governor is pushing to start a special session addressing racial disparities, unemployment on the Iron Range and REAL ID compliance options no later than the third week of this month (JAN). Bipartisan work groups are set to begin meeting in St. Paul on Thursday. The regular legislative session is scheduled for March 8th.
