Gov. Mark Dayton

House Speaker Kurt Daudt
Working groups of lawmakers meet at the State Capitol today, trying to assemble proposals for a possible special session. It’s been almost two months since Governor Mark Dayton proposed a special session to extend unemployment benefits for Iron Range steelworkers, then suggested job creation help for north Minneapolis — and compliance with federal I-D requirements for drivers licenses is now also in the mix. The governor says Republicans’ approach has been “drag your heels and blame us. That’s not leadership.” House Speaker Kurt Daudt responds he hasn’t seen any specific proposals from the governor. “There’s no way to solve a problem by myself, and right now I feel like the only one trying, ” Daudt says.
