The committee repeatedly deadlocked, Republicans asking for a probable cause finding and investigation; Democrats saying make no decision until criminal proceedings are complete. Winona Republican Jeremy Miller argued “We are not here to be judge and jury. We are here today to determine if a member of our body… violated the rules of the Minnesota State Senate.” But Minneapolis Democrat Bobby Joe Champion said, “we will not get as much information in that investigation that we need, especially if the main subject of the investigation is not able to, or is unwilling to, give information because there is another criminal proceeding that’s going forward.”

(St. Paul, MN) — Representatives of Minnesota’s Catholic, Jewish, and Evangelical Christian communities are at the State Capitol this afternoon (Wed 130pm), objecting to a proposed E-R-A (Equal Rights) and abortion rights constitutional amendment because discrimination based on “religion” is *not* on the list of prohibitions. The bill moving forward in the Minnesota House would ask voters in 2026, two years from November, whether the state constitution should be amended to prohibit discrimination based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, disability or sex — including gender identity, sexual orientation and “all matters relating to one’s own pregnancy.” That is where the abortion issue comes in, making the bill particularly controversial.

(Fargo, ND) — Police in Fargo are investigating the death of a three-month-old child. Officers called to a medical emergency Tuesday morning found the infant not breathing and unresponsive. Paramedics provided first aid but the child died at the scene. Investigators say there were no immediate signs of suspicious activity or foul play. The Fargo Police Department is working with medical authorities to conduct a thorough examination. No further information is being released.

(Parkers Prairie, MN) — A man is dead after he was pinned underneath a piece of farm machinery north of Parkers Prairie in Otter Tail County Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff’s deputies say the 28-year-old man was working with others to repair tillage equipment on a farm when part of the machinery fell on him. First responders tried to save him but died at the scene. The victim hasn’t been identified.

(Clarissa, MN) — The Minnesota D-N-R is searching for a poacher who shot and killed a sandhill crane in Todd County. Officials says the crane was found north of Clarissa on Sunday following a report of gunfire in the area. A conservation officer confirmed the death of the nesting mother and the destruction of the two eggs she was caring for. The D-N-R is asking anyone with information about the crane’s death to contact the Turn in Poachers hotline (800-652-9093).

>>Investigation of Deadly Princeton Mobile Home Explosion Continues

(Princeton, MN) — The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office and the state fire marshal are still investigating a fatal house explosion in Princeton early Tuesday morning. . Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene to find a single-family mobile home that appeared to have exploded with a large debris field that was partially on fire. A search of the debris turned up two victims, 60-year-old Royce Kreger Jr. and his wife, 61-year-old Katherine Kreger. Both were dead at the scene. Officers say a family dog was also found dead in the debris.

>>Multiple Vehicles Damaged by Fire in Moorhead High School Parking Lot

(Moorhead, MN) — Several vehicles are severely damaged after a fire spread through the Moorhead High School parking lot. Administrators say it happened Tuesday morning in the east student parking lot shortly after classes began. Moorhead police and firefighters were called to the scene and the burning vehicles were extinguished. Nobody was hurt. Investigators are trying to determine how the fires started.

(St. Paul, MN) — State transportation officials are encouraging Minnesota students to ride their bikes to school today (Wed). MnDOT’s Joe Palmersheim says Bike to School Day is a healthy way to promote safe biking activities in a group setting and 161 schools around the state signed up. He says families that live far from school can drop their kids and bikes off a few blocks away. MnDOT is asking more schools to register for Bike to School Day. Palmersheim says some Minnesota schools really get into the program and activities.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert is being honored as the N-B-A Defensive Player of the Year. This is the fourth time the seven-foot-one-inch center has won the award. Gobert averaged 14 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.13 blocks per game, and ranked second in the N-B-A in field goal percentage at .661. Rudy missed his team’s playoff win in Denver Monday night following the birth of his son in Minnesota. Gobert is the first Timberwolves player to be honored as the league’s best defender.
