(Minnetonka, MN) — Authorities say the man who died in a shootout with Hennepin County deputies at a home in Minnetonka on Wednesday was killed by gunfire from law enforcement. The medical examiner says 28-year-old Clint Hoyhtya (HOYT-yuh) died of multiple gunshot wounds. Two deputies were wounded and one of them, Christopher Heihn, was released from HCMC yesterday (Thurs). The other deputy, whose name hasn’t been released yet, was treated at the scene and not hospitalized. Officials haven’t said what led to the shootout or who fired first.

(Kandiyohi County, MN) –A Brooklyn Center man has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison for the sexual assault of a hotel clerk in Spicer. Official says the night of February 26th, 2022, 33-year-old Ashir Hassan Kimbrough checked into a Hampton Inn, followed the desk clerk into a women’s restroom, forced her to perform a sex act, and then fired a gun to scare her before she escaped. A Kandiyohi County judge said Kimbrough treated the victim with particular cruelty and committed the offenses in a location where she expected privacy. Kimbrough must register as a sex offender and pay restitution to the victim.

(St. Paul, MN) — University of Minnesota faculty, staff, and students rallied this afternoon (FRI, 2 p.m.) outside Magrath Library, protesting the removal of a book display containing the word “Palestine.” Organizers say a book display titled “The Beauty of Veils and Head Coverings in Palestine and Around the World,’ which they say did not have any political content or reference to the current attacks on Gaza, was removed from the library by school administrators. Group leaders argue the library regularly features cultural wear exhibits on apparel design, fashion, and textile studies collections.

(Olivia, MN) — The Renville County Board has passed a resolution opposing a bill at the Minnesota Legislature that would forbid local law enforcement agencies from cooperating with the federal government on immigration issues. Renville County Sheriff Scott Hable says his office considers the federal government a partner, and stopping cooperation with them is dangerous for the state. Hable says to “specifically prohibit police officers from talking with each other and helping each other out goes against the very essence of what policing is.” Hable says while there is rare interaction between the two agencies on a day-to-day basis, he does not want to stop the “flow of intelligence between them” when wanted or needed. McLeod County has passed a similar resolution, but both are largely symbolic.

Hendrickson says a trophy is there, plus hockey cards and photos — even a broadcasting desk where fans can record their own play-by-play.
