(Duluth, MN) — Police in Duluth have issued arrest warrants for three men in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Chantel Moose, who was found in the downtown area in the early morning hours one week ago with a stab wound to the neck and later died at the hospital. Authorities are looking for 34-year-old Darrius Plummer of Canton, Michigan who’s wanted for second-degree murder, and Trayvon Walters of Duluth and Kimonte Cadge, both 26 years old and wanted for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Duluth Police Chief Mike Ceynowa says, “We hope that the arrest of these three men will bring peace to Chantel, her family, and her loved ones as they are grieving her loss.” Authorities say their investigation remains active.

(Bloomington, MN) — Activists from the Minnesota Free Palestine Coalition plan to protest near First Lady Jill Biden’s appearance tonight (Fri 6pm) at an Education Minnesota teachers’ union event in Bloomington. Organizer Drake Myers says they decided on three slogans: “Money for Education, not for War; End the Tax on Academic Freedom; and End U-S Aid to Israel.” Myers says they’re calling on President Biden to use aid to Israel as leverage for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and to avert retaliation by Israel against Iran. He says academic freedoms are also being violated: Police arresting demonstrators at Columbia University in New York City, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s daughter among them. And Myers says close to where the First Lady is speaking, two Edina High School students were suspended for saying “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

(Burnsville, MN) — Ethanol advocates are cheering news that the E-P-A will allow the sale of E-15 fuel during this summer’s driving season. Brian Werner of the Minnesota Biofuels Association says he was hoping regulators would issue an emergency waiver. He says, “This is really welcomed news for Minnesota’s biofuel industry and also just a victory for our state’s economy and environment. Unleaded 88 reduces air emissions, it lowers prices at the pump and it sustains rural jobs and agricultural markets.” Werner says a 1990 federal rule prohibits sales of 15 percent ethanol fuel from June through mid-September. Minnesota and seven other Midwest states will be able to sell E-15 year-round permanently next year.

(Calumet, MN) — Minnesota officials plan to close a state park on the Mesabi Iron Range so the land can again be used as an active mine. The Star Tribune reports a reclamation company wants to process commercial iron ore from large waste pilings at Hill Annex Mine State Park in Calumet. A D-N-R official says Cliffs Nashwauk has also proposed to start mining that site again by 2029 and taking the ore by train to Hibbing Taconite. There are bills active at the legislature to decommission the state park, with about one month remaining in the session.
