University of Minnesota men’s basketball head coach Ben Johnson has announced the addition of Brennan Rigsby (De Beque, Colo.) to the 2024-25 Golden Gopher roster. Rigsby is transferring to Minnesota after spending two seasons at Oregon. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

“Brennan brings a wealth of experience to our program,” Johnson said. “He’s played at a high major level on a team that went to the NCAA tournament with a coach that does a great job. Brennan has a bright future ahead of him. I love that he can shoot and score, makes great decisions with the ball, and has good size. He’s a great competitive addition to our program.”

Rigsby, a 6-foot, 3-inch guard, averaged 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 36 games played last season. He started in 21 games and shot 40 percent from the field and 35.3 from beyond the arc. Rigsby had six double-digit games, including a season-high 19 points vs. Michigan and 18 points at Washington State. He also had a season-high seven rebounds at Oregon State and at least one steal in 19 games. As a sophomore in 2022-23, Rigsby saw action in 21 games and made eight starts. He averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 17.8 minutes played.

Prior to his time at Oregon, Rigsby spent a season at Northwest Florida State College, where he showcased his skills. He averaged an impressive 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 33 games, leading the team to a NJCAA national championship in 2022. In the championship game, he scored a game-high 24 points and went 9 of 14. A native of De Beque, Colo., Rigsby played his first two years of high school at De Beque before going to Wasatch Academy in Utah.
