(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher men’s basketball team continues with summer workouts this week on campus. Coaches are allowed to work with players on a limited basis during the summer workout period and head coach Ben Johnson says they are doing a lot of small group drills. Gopher sophomore-to-be Pharrel Payne of Cottage Grove says he expects this Minnesota team to take a big step forward with improved play for 2023-24 season. He says the team has an “infinite” skill set and will count on several players to be contributors. Payne says he expects this coming year’s team to play at a faster tempo because of increased depth and skill. He thinks the non-conference portion of the schedule will be important to grow confidence. Minnesota was 9-22 last season and is looking for big improvement.
