The 2023-24 University of Minnesota men’s basketball schedule highlights 21 home games and 20 Big Ten contests during the 2023-24 season, announced today by the Big Ten office. Start times and network designations for all conference and nonconference games will be announced during the week of Sept. 25-29.

The 129th season of Golden Gopher men’s basketball begins with seven-straight home games this November. Minnesota starts with an exhibition game on Nov. 2 against Macalester, followed by the season opener against Bethune Cookman on Nov. 6 and Texas San Antonio (UTSA) on Nov. 10.

Announced earlier this year, Minnesota hosts Missouri on Nov. 16 in conjunction with a two-game series in 2023-24 and 2024-25 with the Tigers. USC Upstate and Arkansas-Pine Bluff will also visit Williams Arena on Nov. 18 and Nov. 21.

Minnesota then travels to California on Nov. 26 when it faces San Francisco at Golden State’s Chase Center. The Gophers return to Williams Arena on Nov. 30 when it hosts New Orleans.

Earlier this year, the Big Ten announced the 2023-24 league opponents. As in years past, two Big Ten games will be played in the month of December, followed by the remaining conference schedule resuming in January through March. All teams have two home Saturdays, four-six weekend games and a minimum of one home weekend the last three weeks of the season in every four-weekend stretch. The Gophers begin the Big Ten season at Ohio State on Sunday, Dec. 3, followed by a home game against Nebraska on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Following the two Big Ten tilts, Minnesota returns to nonconference action for the remainder of December, all at Williams Arena. Minnesota hosts Florida Gulf Coast on Dec. 9 and IUPUI on Dec. 12. Following finals week, the Gophers resume action on Dec. 21 against Ball State and slated to close out nonconference action on Dec. 29 against Maine.

Minnesota returns to Big Ten action on Jan. 4 when the Gophers travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to take on the Michigan Wolverines. Minnesota is back at Williams Arena on Jan. 7 when the Maryland Terrapins come to town. The Gophers then hit the road to Bloomington, Ind., to face the Indiana Hoosiers on Friday, Jan. 12.

For the second-straight year, the Gophers play at home Martin Luther King Jr. Day when the Iowa Hawkeyes come to town, Jan. 15. Minnesotathen travels to East Lansing, Mich., to face the Michigan State Spartans on Jan. 18. The Gophers face Wisconsin on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for a border battle, while traveling to Penn State on Jan. 27.

The Gophers open February with back-to-back home games against Northwestern on Feb. 3, followed by a Feb. 6 meeting against the Spartans. Minnesota is at Iowa on Feb. 11 and at Purdue on Feb. 15 before returning to Williams for another pair. The Gophers host Rutgers on Feb. 18 and Ohio State on Feb 22 this season. Minnesota then closes out the month with two road games: at Nebraska (Feb. 25) and at Illinois (Feb. 28).

Minnesota rounds out the regular season with home games against Penn State on March 2 and Indiana on March 6, while finishing at Northwestern Saturday, March 9.

The 27th Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 through Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

The Golden Gopher basketball program returns six athletes that saw action from last year’s team, including All-Big Ten honorable mention Dawson Garcia and sophomores Braeden Carrington, Joshua Ola-Joseph and Pharrel Payne. In addition, the Gophers welcome five newcomers to the squad this season in Cam Christie, Elijah Hawkins, Mike Mitchell Jr., Erick Reader and Jack Wilson.
