The University of Minnesota women’s basketball program is providing its student-athletes with a once-in-a-lifetime foreign experience this August. Beginning on Thursday, August 17, the Golden Gophers will take a five-city foreign tour that consists of stops in Athens, Split, Dubrovnik, Ston and the Island of Solta.

The trip to Europe is the first for the program since 2018 when the team traveled to Italy. Per NCAA rules, college teams are allowed to make an international trip once every four years. Additionally, the team is allotted an extra 10 practices in preparation for the trip.

The Maroon and Gold will also have the opportunity to play in three exhibition contests while on their tour of Croatia and Greece. The first game will take place on Saturday, August 19, against the Split Select at 6:30 p.m. local time in Split, Croatia. The second game will take place on Wednesday, August 23, against the Dubrovnik Select, at 7 p.m. local time in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The third and final game will be on Friday, August 25, against the Athens Select in Athens, Greece, at 7 p.m. local time. Broadcast information for these three games is not available at this time.

The program will also get the opportunity to take in the cultural experience of each of the cities. The team will also participate in Youth Clinics, Community Service and much more while on the tour.
