University of Minnesota women’s basketball coach Dawn Plitzuweit is excited to extend an invitation to all youth from grades 3-8 to join Coach P’s Lil’ Gophers program for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
For only $5 per member (in addition to the $25 Goldy’s Kids Club Membership), Coach P’s Lil’ Gophers features a variety of benefits throughout the season. Each member receives letters from women’s basketball student-athletes throughout the season and an invitation to a member-only clinic. Also, members receive an invite to Coach P’s Lil’ Gophers Night which includes participation in the pre-game tunnel during starting lineups and other in-game recognitions. Members also receive an exclusive t-shirt, free admission to home women’s basketball games, and more. Memberships will be valid throughout the academic year that runs from August of 2023 until May of 2024.
“We are so excited to announce Coach P’s Lil’ Gopher program,” Plitzuweit said. “We just love being able to connect with the youth in our community and this program allows us to do this. This program kicks off with a basketball clinic in the fall, and is followed by letters from the players throughout the season. The bonds that are created through this program are truly special. It is amazing to hear the stories of young girls who have been a part of this program previously and to know that some still have the letters hanging in their room years later. The benefits of this program create some exceptional memories for the participants, and we are looking forward to building and growing this program throughout Minnesota and the region!”
The member-only clinic will be conducted on September 24, 2023, and will focus on fundamental skills including shooting, passing, ball handling, and defense. Participants of the clinic will also get an opportunity to be instructed by the 2023-24 Minnesota WBB student-athletes and coaches.
If members are not able to attend the member-only clinic on September 24th, they will be able to pick-up member t-shirts at the Coach P’s Lil’ Gopher Night, which will be announced at a later date. Additionally, those individuals will still receive all the other benefits of the program.
Members of Coach P’s Lil’ Gophers will receive an email newsletter every month (September – March). This email will detail all the upcoming membership opportunities and events.
Once Gopher Women’s Basketball single game tickets are available, and after purchasing the membership, members will have access to redeem tickets online. Please login to your GopherSports account online and claim the free tickets to a game during the 2023-24 season.
