>>Klobuchar Applauds EPA’s Summer Waiver for E-15 Fuel

(Washington, DC) — U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar is among those applauding the E-P-A for issuing an emergency fuel waiver allowing the sales of E-15 this summer.  Retailers are prohibited from selling 15 percent ethanol fuel between June and mid-September.  Minnesota’s congressional delegation supported a bill allowing year-round sales of E-15 in all 50 states.     Minnesota and seven other Midwestern states can sell E-15 year-round permanently in 2025.

>>Longtime St. Cloud Mayor Stepping Down

(St. Cloud, MN) — The longest-serving mayor in St. Cloud is calling it a career.  Mayor Dave Kleis (klice) says he won’t be running for a sixth term and wants to give potential candidates time to campaign before the November election.   Kleis, first elected in November 2005, is known for transforming the mayor’s position from part-time to full-time in St. Cloud.

>>Lasers and Turkeys

(St. Paul, MN) —  A Minnesota turkey grower is using lasers to help protect his flock from highly pathogenic avian influenza.  Jake Vlaminck of Fahlun(Fallen) Farms outside of Lake Lillian says he was one of the first turkey growers in the state to use lasers to deter wild birds. He says it’s an autonomous laser that moves around and scares away any wild birds that might come close to our barns. And it seems to be pretty effective.  Vlaminck says a laser costs around $15,000, and at least two are needed to cover a barn site fully. Vlaminck is the president of the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association and says they are asking state and federal officials to help share the cost.

>>Woman Who Lent Car To George Floyd Is Getting Car Back From Investigators

(Minneapolis, MN)  —  A woman who lent her vehicle to George Floyd on the fateful day that a Minneapolis police officer killed him is getting some good news.  Sylvia Jackson told KSTP-TV yesterday that her 2001 Mercedes SUV was being held as evidence in a criminal investigation.  Later in the day, the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office announced that they would release the vehicle.  Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes, on May 25th, 2020.

>>35 New Troopers To Join State Patrol today

(St. Paul, MN)  —  Thirty-five new troopers will join the Minnesota State Patrol today.  Some graduates are from a program that offers education and training to candidates without law enforcement experience.  The grads still have a few more weeks of training to complete.  Their first solo patrols will start on July 24.
