The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have returned infielder Jorge Polanco from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day Injured List.
Polanco, who missed the Twins’ last 41 games with a left hamstring strain, played in seven games on rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul, hitting .333 (8-for-24) with one double, one home run, one RBI, four walks, four runs scored, a .448 on-base percentage and a .948 OPS. In 30 games for the Twins this season, Polanco has hit .250 (30-for-120) with nine doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored, seven walks and a .741 OPS.
To make room for Polanco on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Cole Sands to Triple-A St. Paul. Sands has posted a 4.50 ERA (14.0 IP, 7 ER) with nine walks, 14 strikeouts and a .263 (15-for-57) opponent batting average in 10 games for Minnesota this season.
