The Minnesota Vikings announce the team has traded a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for QB Joshua Dobbs and a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The completion of this trade is pending Dobbs passing a physical.

Dobbs, a seven-year NFL veteran, has spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2017-18, 2020-21), Jacksonville Jaguars (2019), Cleveland Browns (2022), Detroit Lions (2022), Tennessee Titans (2022) and Arizona Cardinals (2023) after originally entering the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick with Pittsburgh in 2017. After being acquired in a trade on Aug. 24, 2023, Dobbs has started all eight games this season for the Cardinals, posting 1,569 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, five interceptions and an 81.2 passer rating. Dobbs has also totaled 258 rushing yards, third-most among quarterbacks this season, and three rushing touchdowns in 2023.

Dobbs left the University of Tennessee with the most rushing yards (2,160) and TDs (32) by a quarterback in program history. He totaled 7,153 passing yards and 53 touchdowns in four seasons (2013-16) as a Volunteer. Dobbs majored in Aerospace Engineering at Tennessee and has spent two offseasons (2020-21) working with NASA’s Kennedy Space Flight Center as part of the NFLPA’s Virtual Externship Program.
