(Houston, TX) — The Twins ran out to a big lead but had to hold on late for a 5-4 series opening win against the Astros. Zebby Matthews gave up just one run off four hits in seven innings of work as the Twins built up a 5-1 lead. From there the Twins bullpen bent but it didn’t break as they gave up three runs in the bottom of the ninth but managed to eek out the win. Josh Bell, Victor Caratini and Royce Lewis each hit homers for Minnesota as they improve to 41-45 on the season and have won two in a row and three of their last four. The two teams will meet again tonight at 7:10 P-M with Joe Ryan facing Mike Burrows.
