(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football team poured it on early and often as they routed Eastern Illinois 59-7 in their season opener. Running back Darrius Taylor scored three first half touchdowns as Minnesota led 35-7 at the half. Second year quarterback Drake Lindsey went 19 of 24 through the air for 264 yards and a touchdown. Javon Tracy returned two punts for touchdowns, a Gopher record for punts returned for a T-D in a single game. The Gophers are home against Mississippi State next Saturday for a 2:30 P-M kick off at Huntington Bank Stadium.
