(Ames, IA) — The Indiana Pacers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 123-112 in a preseason matchup at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa in a neutral site contest. The game was marked by Tyrese Haliburton’s emotional return to his Iowa State alma mater after missing the previous season with an Achilles injury. Haliburton contributed 7 points and 6 assists in 16 minutes, while Aaron Nesmith led all scorers with 19 points on efficient shooting. For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards paced the team with 19 points (including 4-of-5 from three), Jaden McDaniels added 16, and newcomer LaMelo Ball posted 14 points and 7 assists, but Minnesota’s strong second-quarter surge (38-29) was erased by Indiana’s dominant 38-26 third period as the Pacers’ depth and ball movement carried them to the victory. The Wolves are back on the floor on Saturday night in Miami for a 7 P-M tip.
